Mmmm… Hollywood Joe is happy to report that chocolate dipped key lime pie on a stick is now a Pigeon Forge, TN specialty. The Blond Giraffe from Key West, Florida has set up shop here in the Great Smoky Mountains and is offering these tasty treats locally and by mail order nationwide.
Owners Tania and Roberto got their key lime pie recipe from her 96-year-old Brazilian grandmother and changed it a bit to suit American tastes (more tart!).
They got the idea to dip it in chocolate and serve it on a stick after visiting New York City and seeing the same “schtick” with cheesecake. Voila! And, just like New York where you can find delectable foods in odd places, Blond Giraffe’s made-from-scratch key lime pies, cookies, pecans, and coolers are all available at their counter behind Zoomerz gas station at 3643 Parkway, just 3 miles away from the Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center.
Wow! A new Smoky Mountain dessert tradition is born. And, Hollywood Joe thinks Blond Giraffe takes the cake… or should we say pie!
